i was looking at the button for THIS site on my site and had that thought. so yes.. literally. just a faint smile (in that particular photo) that's very mona lisa-esque.

i wish to know more of this mona lisa soul.

that painting always seems to me as if she feels as though she knows things that others don't, private, very personal things that only she can see and she also seems faintly sad, but also amused by it all on some other level. This is how I often feel. She also looks mildly surprised as though she really can't beleive it all. I don't mean that as in, "i know things others don't, smug kind of way" but rather in the sense that I often feel very separated from the world at large by virtue of my strange way of thinking and looking at things. I wonder, though, if that is not true for everybody, or do many people feel that they dovetail nicely with the rest of society? I reveal too much in the comments section.
